My Simple & Affordable Morning Skincare Routine for Combination Skin

If you'd like to read about my simple and low-cost morning skincare routine then you've come to the right place! If you’re curious about my evening routine as well then I gotchuu, coming soon to my blog!

Hey, hey! So I’ve struggled with my skin for YEARS and my skin has been impacting my confidence for about 10 years now😱. I believe simplicity is key in skincare and a 20 step routine is not necessary at all. I’m going to focus on the simplicity aspect of this routine as well as the low cost. I think we are bombarded with products daily and a lot of the content we consume creates the desire to have more all the time. The products I use for my combination skin have helped me a LOT, they’re available for purchase from numerous stores and they are all under $25 each!

MY CURRENT ROUTINE

Currently, I have a simple, low maintenance, and low cost routine. I honestly can’t justify spending over $50 on a product and I’m still researching what might work on my skin and I’m open to hearing all of your suggestions! My DMs are always open so I’d love to hear from you about your favourite products.

Okay so in the morning:

  1. I wash my face with lukewarm water and I do not use any cleanser. I have nothing to cleanse, my skin was thriving soaking up the products from the night before.

  2. Once I pat dry my face, I proceed to pat some of Thayer’s Witch Hazel Rose Petal Toner on my skin. I've re-purchased this product twice but I don’t think it does anything so I don’t see why I should keep using it.

  3. After the witch hazel rose petal toner dries on my skin, I add a few drops of The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. I add some drops some on my skin and then pat it into my skin.

  4. While waiting for the toner to dry, I apply eye cream. I use The Ordinary Caffeine Solution or the Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Cream. I use either one, but I would not recommend the caffeine solution because it doesn’t feel hydrating and it’s just mediocre and I always reach for the Cetaphil one. I don’t see any results with either, to be honest. I am still unsure if I even need to use eye cream? Is it just an expensive moisturizer in a smaller bottle? Help a girl out LOL.

  5. To finish it all off, I use a moisturizer and I either use The Ordinary  Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA which I reviewed here since it’s the moisturizer that I have repurchased over 5 times OR I use the Cetaphil Fragrance Free Moisturizing Lotion which is a classic go-to that does not disappoint.

That concludes my morning skincare!

After this, I’m either out the door or I proceed to apply makeup. Sometimes if I feel like it, I spray some of the Mario Badescu Aloe or Rose spray. These don’t do much but they smell good, they are refreshing, feel hydrating and I use them in the morning or as a pick-me-up for my skin during the day.

I’d love to hear what you use on your skin in the morning! What products tame your skin during the day? What helps your skin feel healthy and glowy? Let me know, my DMs are always open 💕.

Until next time, don't forget to moisturize and take care of your skin!
